United State of American Senate

Scary. G. W. Bush has just got another 25′000 million dollars (that’s 25 US-billions) more funding for his the Iraq campaign. The Grand Total now stands at US$160 US-billions (160 thousand millions)), and that’s a lot of money. US$545,32 per US capita. Wonder how much of that is allocated to rebuilding, medical stuff and education? But anyway, what brought me to write this was that The Senate (…) unanimously passed an amendment backing the reserve fund for operations in Iraq and Afghanistan…
. That’s 95 votes for and nil against. Zip. Nada. What a wonderfully single minded Senate the President has! Just like in the good old USSR! Yee-haw!I suppose i must read further into the issue, since the headline for the article linked above says Congress Moves to Put Limits on Iraq Funds
. The Limits are that the Bush admiminstration is not going to get a us$25 billion “blank cheque”, but that the money rather is allocated into 22 separate accounts. A little like budgeting. Even Bush might have heard of it.
Update: I wasn’t very clear with my numbers in this entry. Billions in this article == “US billions”. One US Billion == 1000 millions. One SI Billion == one million millions. Thus, one US billion == 1e-3 SI millions, or the other way around, one SI billion == 1000 US billions. Glad we got that cleared
