All i wanted was a guitar

After i left work yesterday i stumbled, much to my surprise, over a music shop. A contributing factor to the surprise is that the shop actually is on the route from home to work: i was surprised that i hadn’t noticed it before.

This is a repost. Due to technical issues, i posted this same story yesterday as a comment to yesterday’s story.

Within, they had guitars. Real guitars this time. And a bass guitar. Mmmm… There were two guitars that caught my eye: one was a plain and pretty Yamaha thingy (real, this time), available in two configurations: one with a built in mike and one without. The sound was a bit muffled, probably because the strings were old, but the overall feeling was good.

But that wasn’t the real beauty of it all. On the row above, was a thin acousic guitar which looked oddly like a Fender Stratocaster. It felt good, very much like a mix between an acoustic guitar and an electric one. It was a Fender Stratacoustic I was in love.

So now my dilemma is this:

  • A box with six strings that refuse to stay in tune: 30 USD
  • A plain vanilla but authentic-looking Yamaha: 180 USD
  • That same Yamaha but with a built in pickup microphone: 225 USD
  • The Stratacoustic: 350 USD

Help me out here! The price for a Stratacoustic on the ‘Net is about 300 USD, so maybe there’s some room for discussing the price…
