People who know me, will know that Marillion is my favourite band. It’s not just the music, it’s that, combined with the response of the band and the affection of the fans, that make a whole (much like working here with the UN isn’t just the job –one not very unlike the one i had in Finland– but the colleagues, the all-encompassing dedication, the environment and simply the intent). This year, like three years before, Marillion produced an intense fan-happening in England called The Marillion Weekend. And of course, music was only one reason why 2700 fans convened at 11.–14. March this year. There’s a story in The Independent that quite nicely covers the weekend.This year, like previous years, i couldn’t attend. This year, i’m on the other side of the world. Previous years, there have been assorted reasons (like having a daughter for me not being able to attend. But One Fine Day, i will. Until then, i read the stories, look at the pictures and listen to the music.
