Earth moving

I find it slightly unnerving that the earth has been trembling every so often during the last few days. Friends and colleagues who have lived here for longer say that i am imagining things, which doesn’t necessarily make things less unnerving for me. So maybe it’s just me losing it, or then we do have some earthshivers here.

It feels like going over the icy sea with one of those large Viking- or Silja-liners crossing the waters between Finland and Sweden. Most of the time, things are smooth, but every so often, the ship shivers. This is the same. Except that there is no ship.

I read somewhere that this phenomenon is Earth’s tectonic plates slowly gliding back to their resting places. After all, we did have a quake a few weeks back, so this should be a good sign and not one of pending insanity. If i didn’t see the water level shivering in my water bottle, i would be seriously concerned. Still, one of those accelerator-measuring devices would help settling an engineering mind.
