Quake redux

After yesterday’s writeup on earthly tremors, it was a bit of a shocker to turn on BBCworld and hear there’s been an 8.7 quake in the Sumatra region, close to the one on the 26th of December last year. There were a series of aftershocks of magnitudes between 5 and 6. Like in December, this one didn’t have any impact on Dili.

I took a look at the quake map for the Timor-Leste region and much to my surprise, there has been some seismic activity in the region the last few days. Still, these have been small ones, between 4 and 5 on the Richter scale.
