The Kleptones: 24 Hours
By llauren on Apr 6, 2006 in english
Just downloaded and now listening to the new Kleptopes album 24 Hours. Pni should like “0810 Down at the Bennies” which includes some Pink Floyd
For those of you not familiar with The Kleptones, it’s a hip-hop-mixing-combo who actually makes good music from a whole bunch of sampled bits and pieces. 24 Hours contains The Clash, Simon and Garfunkel, Beatles, ZZ Top, AC/DC, Brittish glam rock, some light jazz, snippets of BBC, movies and generic absurdities. Since their material consists of mainly copyrighted stuff, you can’t get their music in stores and won’t hear it on the radio. You have to download it for free.
Their earlier album A Night At The Hip-Hopera is an absolute pearl, built on tracks by The Queen. You should get it. I don’t like hip-hop but i love this.
Update: “War of Confusion” is a helluva track. Combine War, Land of Confusion and Superstitious (and spice it with Big Time). Incredible. Another absolute killah is Careless or Dead. You… just have to hear it. It twists your brain.
No Floyd in Down at the Bennies, but there’s some in Daft Purple and Drunk Machine. Don’t know if I really like it though…

I just started listening to A Night At The Hip-Hopera and although neither Hip Hop nor sampled music is in my taste this one is not too bad. …Really. Jöu Mään, my jeans are sliding down!
