Siiiiiiiiiggghhhh. The fight is over. My identity is wiped. Merged. Whatever.

One saddening effect on the Yahoo!-bought-Flickr deal is that users on Flickr (including die-hard-or-at-least-protest-going-down individualists like me) lose their Flickr identity and start wearing the Yahoo! cape. Damnit, my photographic soul isn’t on Yahoo!, it’s on Flickr. Except that now it is.

The usual fun and friendly Flickr system messages (Marjut wrote about these a few days ago, in Finnish) sounded cold, corporate and harsh when it suggested that i’d like  to sign in with my thellauren Yahoo! ID. No, i do not like to do that. I am forced to do that, and despite the big button beneath, that is not OK for me.  Grrr.

The whole thellauren ID was forced upon me when Yahoo! bought up another service which now exists as Yahoo! groups. I’ll probably remember the name of the service after i’ve pressed the Publish button for this article. Anyway, since the ID llauren was already occupied on Yahoo! (by me), i could not take it with me from the other service, so i had to create a new one, hoping that i’d be able to change it back through the Yahoo! customer service. But no sir, according to the Yahoo! customer service, this is not possible. Not currently. Yeah right.

What wouldn’t i give for Flickr to use Open ID?
