News from the engine room

I’ve updated Wordpress to 2.2.x. I would have used the auto-update plugin but my host insists on us guests not breaking their system (and ours) by forcing PHP Safe Mode. Knowing me, maybe that’s for the best, but i rather enjoy the possibility to break my stuff.
More importantly, there have been quite some hiccups in the access of this site. That was my fault; my host changed IP addresses and i didn’t realize i had too. But now they say the recommended way to access the site is by CNAME, and that CNAMEs should never point to “bare” domain names, for example to navelfluff.org. So it is with some blues in my mojo that i annonce that Navelfluff now is better accessed at www.navelfluff.org than just the old, plain and pretty navelfluff.org. I hope the only one that minds is me. But you might want to check your RSS subscription URLs, just in case.
To celebrate all of this (and in my never ending quest for the Perfect Theme), i’ve changed the theme for this site. I do admit it’s still a bit tacky :).
Thanks for listening. The regular unscheduled trivia will commence in just a jiffy.
That’s weird. I prefer the no-www domain-name too. But consistency is more important in the end I suppose.
But could this be the reason for Blogilista not noticing your updates? (Last update 27.6.2007 says Blogilista.)

Thanks for reporting the Blogilista problem. I would never have thought of it myself…. And i still think that it sucks that you can’t use “bare” host names for virtual hosts. But such is the RFC and we, as responsible netizens, obey.

Well, the Blogilista problem is fixed now.
Do you mean Apache’s virtual hosts by virtual hosts? I use a “bare” host name for my virtual host, and it seems to work nicely.
