Diplomingenjör Laurén »

Så. Nu är jag färdig.

PhD 10y »

Congratulations to the Piled Higher and Deeper comic strip — one of the very efficiently productivity-impairing factors i had when trying to write my thesis — for turning ten years this saturday! Yay!
(my advisor has longer hair than the one depicted in the strip above — otherwise the situation… heck, most of PhD is [...]

It’s a remaster - with links! »

OK, this warrants another post. I have finally figured out why my PDF outputs of my TEX documents — regardless whether they’re made from PostScript, DVI or source — either look like crap or have links that don’t. Here’s my conclusion.
The LATEX Microtype package that i use is not compatible with PDFlatex. Or any [...]

It’s a book »

My thesis is now in black covers. I wish i could say that i’m Terribly Pleased, but i’m not. The print job just isn’t as edgy as i was hoping for. There are small spots all over the job like from a dirty copier. The gold lettering on the cover bleeds and looks fuzzy. It [...]

Thesis 1.00 Final »

This should be the Final Version of my thesis. Hallelujah. At least it was pre-accepted by my instructor and professor before the former changed her surname. As a final squeeze, i rewrote the Acknowledgements bit into a proper Foreword. Guess i needed to vent

My thesis, the final RC? »

It is there. The release candidate 1, patch level 1.1. What should be the Final version of my MSc Thesis: User Centred Access Control for Home Networks.
Yay.
Update: I got a call from my advisor today. Turns out she never got my submission, so i sent it again. We confirmed over the [...]

A minor setback »

I was just about to write the last changes to my thesis when a rather unwished-for incident was uncovered. My thesis source main.tex file was zero bytes long. And since re-installing my Linux, i had not re-installed the backup facilities (which always “had just worked”, so why bother looking at them after the first [...]

My thesis is ready »

Well at least i hope so. So i proudly present thee, my Release Candidate One.
I’ll update the links on the Thesis page later. Now it’s off to bed. There are, after all, nearly ninety minutes of quality sleep time before another day is to begin.

The Thesis and the 90/10 rule »

The 90/10 rule (aka the 90-90 rule) states that:
“The first 90% of the code accounts for the first 90% of the development time. The remaining 10% of the code accounts for the other 90% of the development time.”
The same, evidently, holds for my thesis. I’m clearly in the remaining 10%, and it feels like [...]
