Peaceful coexistence »

I just keep babbling about Tibet like i knew anything about the place or the situation. But you know what, that’s how i cope with the situation. Babbling and speculating.
I just watched this video on YouTube and in a way i understand the two points Dalai lama has tried to make a bit better. [...]

UN mission in Timor-Leste extended »

The UN security council has voted to extend the current peacekeeping mission in Timor-Leste, UNMIT, by a year. Considering the rather volatile current situation (recap: President José Ramos-Horta was shot, but survived, in an assassination attempt on the 11th of February 2008 and the chase for the bad guys is on), i can only consider [...]

Ramos-Horta reboots »

Timor-Leste president José Ramos-Horta who was shot three times in an assassination attempt ten days ago has regained conciousness from the drug-induced coma he was put into. He’s in a stable condition and has talked with members of his family.
During his hibernation, JRH went through a number of surgeries. Doctors of the Darwin [...]

Ramos-Horta to win election »

According to entirely unofficial information from a completely undisclosed individual with hidden connections to the Commission of election in Timor-Leste, José Ramos-Horta has got 155.678. votes against Lu’Ulo 45.656 votes.
The official results will be out tomorrow.
My minuscule analysis of the (forthcoming) result is that with the relations JRH has to Australia, he’s probably a [...]

Seconds ahead »

Yup. Lu’Olo and José Ramos-Horta will face each other the second and final round of the Timor-Leste presidential elections on the 9th of May.
Would be nice to have a good commentary on the situation and some what-ifs.  What if José RH became president?  He’s a competent figure and the outside world knows of him.  He [...]

Second round and no recount »

The preliminary result of the presidential election in Timor-Leste is that no candidate got over 50% of the votes, and by that, there will be a second round of voting on the 8th of May. The two who in all likelyhood will compete in the finals are prime minister José Ramos-Horta and Parliament chief Francisco [...]
